Diabetes is one of the deadliest diseases that are crippling the world right now. Not that we are unaware of that piece of information, but are even close to finding a cure? Yes, we are, but not quite. So, the only logical and more practical solution would be prevention. Diabetes doesn’t affect a person depending on age, it is solely his or her food and lifestyle habits that are responsible for the onset of diabetes. Of course there is the hereditary factor to consider, but the solution we are talking about is going to solve most of our issues, if only we go ahead and implement it! Millets are one of the most power packed pulses that help in diabetes prevention. You see, diabetic people have this innate craving for carbs and sweet dishes; well they can feed those cravings as long as their dishes are made from millets. There are several variants of these millets, and each one of them is used to make specific dishes.
Leading dietitians say that, in a week’s 21 meals if we switch over to millet diet for at least 10 of those meals, we are sure to observe a steady decrease in our blood sugar and at the same time a gradual reduction in weight. These crops have the highest fibre content, very little calorific value and are light on your stomach as well. These grains also provide you with the energy you require throughout the day. The idea is to combine these grains along with fresh fruits and green leafy veggies to get that perfect balanced nutrition. It is definitely impossible to avoid sugars altogether, which is why switching to millets by replacing the usual rice and wheat can work wonders for our body. This has become a widely adopted technique to overcome or prevent diabetes. In fact it is safe to say that millets are every diabetics’ dream food!
